The Wetlands Boardwalks are one of Wakehurst’s most evocative conservation hotspots.

They are located near Westwood Lake and contain a huge array of wetland plants that are a magnet for birds and insect life.

The Wetlands Boardwalks carry a beautiful, self-contained character, nestled between the lake and reservoir in a verdant glade among the wooded hills.

The boardwalks include broader areas with seating for rest and contemplation of this beautifully tranquil area.

A woodland shelter, with oak frame and cedar-shingle roof, provides respite from the hot summer sun, and of course the rain during the winter months.

The design of our Wetlands Boardwalks was inspired by the form of the Ardingly Brook that runs through our Horsebridge Wood.
