Our Elizabethan Mansion is currently home to the UK’s largest outdoor art installation.

Whilst the mansion is currently undergoing an extensive roof restoration, we have commissioned the creation of Planet Wakehurst, a bespoke photo montage from Australian-born artist Catherine Nelson.

Using photography of plants from across our 535-acre site, the dazzling installation is a celebration of Wakehurst’s biodiversity, from the colourful blooms of the abundant Water Gardens to the towering Giant Redwoods of California in Horsebridge Wood.

Canopy Walk

You may have walked the world at Wakehurst before, but you certainly wouldn’t have seen it from this height.

Experience Wakehurst from a new perspective by visiting our Canopy Walk, free to enjoy with your day ticket.

Look down on the mansion lawns from 33ft up and frame your photos perfectly as you look out across the landscape in front of you.

Access to the Canopy Walk will involve a climb of 66 steps over seven flights, with rest areas in between. Children must be supervised.
